It's great to be able to plug in several other devices and know there's enough ports and power to go around. This powered hub was just the thing we needed to boost power to our webcam which didn't work properly thru the computer's USB port. Installation was a breeze, too.
so far so good. plug and play, works with all my peripherals including an external hard drive, solid construction.
The reader could read a card ok through this hub, but could not write to it. The card reader works fine when plugged directly into the computer, but not when plugged into this hub. Returned for a refund. Very Poor Product, nice design. This hub would not work with even a small USB card reader (Transcend RDS5). I suspect a bus-power issue.
This must only be a problem on my end, because none of the other reviews mention it. If there was a 4.5 rating, I would give it, because that one issue isn't enough to warrant a 4/5, it should be 5/5. I looked further into the box, and noticed that the company had included a piece that you put onto the stand to make the hub not slide as easily. When I first handled the product, it was slipping out of its "stand" very easily, and I quickly became frustrated. The construction of it seems very solid, not cheap and made of low-grade plastic like I expected. First off, I would like to say that I really like this hub; it has made my life much easier. I also loved that there were no drivers to install (As of 1-15-10), which obviously made set-up easy. The only thing I have found that is bugging me is that when I plug in my 1st gen Ipod Touch, instead of charging the Ipod, it seems to take away power from it.
Mine didn't work. Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 7-Port Lighted Hub Black F5U700-BLK Very simple. Just sent it back.
